We carefully select which out-of-use structures to dismantle. Once we have collected the lumber, we identify,
sort and grade according to projected final use. Whenever possible, we try to preserve the original characteristic
of the timber - in other words, limit the number of sawblades.

In the case of flooring, of course, this is rarely possible, as most of our flooring is cut to order.
See our current species list on the Inventory page.

Most everything else can be hand-scrubbed and treated with a boric-acid solution, to safely and effectively
sanitize and preserve the wood. After drying, the wood is lightly hand-sanded and stocked in the warehouse,
awaiting its next incarnation.

The gentle treatment of our lumber preserves the unique characteristics that simply cannot be
re-created by machine.
